Let's get together for a grown up Halloween and check out Lucky Monk: "When you name your restaurant after Trappist monks who've spent centuries perfecting their craft, you're serious about your beer. That's why we hired a master to craft our house brews, and why our beer list spans the globe. With everything from refreshing Pilsners that match the lightness of our thin-crust pizza to dark, rich ales that stand up to our decadent burgers, you're certain to find a new favorite at The Lucky Monk." Wear a costume if you'd like just for fun. It's not required. Please read this entire thing. I needed to pick a date, but this date is flexible and will change. Each year the Cathedral Shelter (now ReVive) collects Christmas baskets to donate to needy families in the Chicago area. The families can range anywhere from 1 person to 6 or more. People provide gifts for each family member, and a cash donation for them to buy a turkey, ham, whatever, and other things like pie, potatoes, .... They used to have the donators buy all the food (except the turkey) but this got somewhat cumberbatch, I mean cumbersome, so now they provide a gift card (they want it from Jewel). Many of you have done this before. It will be a little different from last year (but not for you). There is no physical signup. Everything is done by email, and I can actually digitally give you all the instructions. The way it has worked in the past, and now, is people buy gifts and wrap them and label them, and/or give me money they wish to donate for a Jewel card. I will collect the gifts at my house, and put them into big boxes and drop them off wherever that will be this time. Also, I will collect the money and get the Jewel card. There is a deal with our preschool that if we buy the Jewel card from them, the preschool will get a small donation. So they want a response right away (actually yesterday, and that is not a metaphor ;-)). So I took a leap of faith and asked for a family of 6 people. So I am doing this to see who wants to participate. I don't know the dates yet that the packages are do, so I will be updating this as I know. So for now, please sign up and I will update dates and stuff as I get them.
