What we’re about

This group is dedicated to friendly mature singles 40ish to 70ish who want to meet quality people right here in the neighborhood for friendship or romance. The Yin to the Yang so to speak.

How many times have you been at home on a weekend night watching TV thinking "I wish I had someone I can call right now and do something fun?" Well this is the group for you!

How many of you are NOT looking for romance but long for friends that have similar interests as you? Flea markets, watching sports, going to see a play, dinner anyone?

How many of you are sick of going through the holidays alone ... again?

This group is a friendly bunch so if it is your first time or you have been with us since the beginning you will be greeted and seated among friends who are at the event for the same reason you are.

A CURRENT picture of yourself is required to join this group it used for no other reason but to identify you at events. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Start your day with a cup of coffee, a good conversation, and maybe the beginnings of a new friendship. If you’ve got time in the morning, join this small group for an hour and get your day started with a feeling of connection.

I'm doing this every two weeks or so, so we have a chance to get to know each other.

If I can remember, I'll bring my pet raccoon (or my pet penguin), who likes to sit on the table between us.

San Fillipo Estate, Barrington, IL
In celebration of all the branches of our military service, this Concert will feature patriotic and great American song selections on the Mighty Sanfilippo Wurlitzer. Doors open at 1:00 pm for touring; concert begins at 2:30 pm. The Carousel Pavilion will be open after the concert from 4 pm - 5 pm.

Tickets are $45 per person. Limited seating so get your tickets early. World War II veterans can come as our guests (please email the Foundation Director if you're a WWII vet and would like to attend ). Email Gregory at: director@SanfilippoFoundation.org

This is worth going to just for the tour of the instruments and old games, but there is also an Armed Forces Day concert on the biggest theater organ. You will want to arrive early to do the tour though.

At the Cavalcade of Planes you will enjoy all kinds of fun. There will be many types of aircraft to see both flying and on the ground. You can experience a great event including, formation flying, helicopter demonstrations, and much more!

Yes, Cheers 2 has already scheduled this for 2024. It is a multi-group event, main hostess is Lynette.

Here is her description (from Cheers2):

I've [Lynette] reserved the shelter and we're good to go for another fun picnic!
All meetup groups invited, please feel free to cross post in your group.
I rented out the whole site and we have it from 8am to 6:00pm.
Its a large pavilion that will keep everyone dry if it rains. There's lots of parking, lots of seating and it has two charcoal grills.
It also features a spacious patio deck right next to the Des Plaines river.
The cost is free and we'll keep it simple, bring your own food to grill and drinks. If you want, bring a dish to share. You can post in comments
what you plan to bring so we don't end up with too much of one thing.
I'll bring charcoal, paper plates, napkins, plastic spoons, forks, boombox for music, water balloons, a few packs of hot dogs & hamburgers, buns and hopefully vine ripened tomatoes from my garden.
If you prefer, you can bring your own gas grill, they are allowed.

Fun picnic game such as bean bag toss, frisbee.
We have the whole place from 8am to 6pm and I plan to be here between 12 and 6.
Grill out, chat, and leave whenever
Everybody welcome, kids, grandkids, relatives, dogs

Bring your own recliner and lay out in the sun and fall asleep on the deck next to the Des Plaines river after a big meal and a few beers

Take a stroll in the beautiful manicured nature preserve
Sit and chat with friends in the pavilion area
