April Flute Circle Gathering - Learning The Blues

April Flute Circle Gathering - Learning The Blues

Details

A few weeks ago I was playing music with the Crossroads of America Songfarmers and someone played a song utilizing the 12 bar blues. This reminded me of how exciting it is to play the blues on the Native American Flute. This month we will be exploring some of the techniques for playing along with blues backing tracks. Gary and Carol will also provide some live accompaniment with the bass and slide guitar. The blues are actually quite easy and go right along with the improvisational style we are used to with the Native American Flute! Be sure to bring a flute in the key of "Gm" if you have one, if not we will have a few extras.

This is an informal gathering and you can come at any time and stay as long as you want. You can come just to listen or join in.

At our meetings we: mingle, talk about personal experiences or events that have happened since the last gathering, discuss historical events and happenings related to Native American style flutes, set aside a time to ask and answer questions or share new things about our individual flute journeys - and then we play play play! There is much information available to attendees that is often difficult for individuals to find on their own. Come join us!
