What we’re about
The Mid-World Arts Writers' group has been going at it since 2009. Our membership has included writers not only from Indianapolis and the surrounding area, but as far afield as Chicago, New York, California, and even Mumbai, India.
We're proud to say we have had consistent meetings at least once per week for over sixteen years.
That’s because most of our writers are professionals. They have published or are looking to publish, either through traditional means or through the burgeoning self-publishing industry. Eight of our members are published authors for a total as of this update of 28 published books and many other short stories and essays. That said, we're always, ALWAYS welcoming of those just starting out. We were all there once, as well.
When we critique, it’s with an eye toward quality. We won't pat you on the back for work that needs, well, work. We will, however, help you get the work to where it needs to be.
We meet every Tuesday at 7:30 PM Eastern, most weeks on Zoom but also in person. Those who do not participate will have their memberships deleted. That's why the membership count is such a small number. Many other groups let the membership count stack up over time, making it seem as though they have 200, 300, or 500 members when they actually have 10 active members. We don't do that. If you are unable to fit our meetings into your schedule please consider joining at a later time when you will be able to participate.
We do not accept AI-generated or assisted work.
