About us
The Mid-World Arts Writers' group has been going at it since 2009 and we're still in the mix. Don't let bland descriptive data fool you. Whereas many groups seem to have hundreds or thousands of members, most of those are dead listings, people who showed up once or twice or never showed up at all. Our group culls non-participatory members so that our list closely matches our active membership. We also don't list many of our activities here. Mid-World has met at least once weekly for most of its 17 years, including our weekly critique session and our WIP Wrangle writing sessions. This past July, we had our annual retreat, three days together, writing in a 19th century mansion in Richmond, Indiana. You could join us. But, and this is important, we'd rather you only signed up with us if you fully intend to participate. Please don't make us one of 60 requests to join that you clicked that day.
We have a mix of beginning and published writers. What they all hold in common is a sense of seriousness regarding the art. We've eyes toward traditional publishing contracts or publication through the burgeoning self-publishing industry.
When we critique, it’s with an eye toward quality. We won't pat you on the back for work that needs, well, work. We will, however, help you get the work to where it needs to be.
We meet every Tuesday at 7:30 PM Eastern, most weeks on Zoom (so that you aren't limited by geography) but also in person. Those who do not participate will have their memberships deleted.
We do not accept AI-generated or assisted work.
