Fellow Wine Lovers,

Volcanic soil, elevation, warm daytime temps and a long heritage of winemaking that reaches back to the Gold Rush era contribute to the rich, robust and award-winning wines of Amador County. Dry-farming, pruning, plus the deep, well-drained decomposed granite soils of the Sierra Foothills create wines of great structure and focus.

Taste some of the finest Sierra Foothills wines at our next Inside Wine SB Meetup. Estate-grown, sustainably produced grapes are meticulously crafted into fine wine in the Andis state-of-the-art winery. No expense has been spared, yet the wines are surprisingly affordable.

2018 Andis Painted Fields Cuvve Blanc:
Pale straw green color. Tropical aromas and flavors of caramelized tropical fruits, banana, and minted melon with a supple, soft, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a tingling, interesting, snappy finish manifesting shades of roasted grapefruit, vanilla yogurt nuts, kiwi and starfruit, and grass with fine, dusty tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A pleasing, lightly tropical and savory white blend. Special tasting for our group!

2018 Andis Sauvignon Blanc:
Aromatics of lemon zest and fresh-cut pear lead to crisp flavors of grapefruit and a hint of peaches. Serve this wine chilled alongside seafood, light pasta dishes, and chicken with basil and garlic. (usual retail $21.99)

2016 Andis Barbera:
Barbera is an Italian grape variety that made its way to Amador County during the Gold rush of the 1850's and still thrives here today. The variety's natural acidity and deep color make it a great option for blends but also a wonderful stand-alone wine. This crisp, lip-smacking red wine has lots of cherry and cranberry flavors, light to medium body and good balance. It's an appetizing mealtime wine that doesn't steal the show. (usual retail $29.99)

2016 Andis Painted Fields Red Blend:
90 Points! - Wine Enthusiast 2016 Painted Fields is a blend of two popular varieties grown here since the Gold Rush of the 1800's. Barbera brings the fresh cut red fruit with nice acidity versus Primitivo, a.k.a Zinfandel, brings flavors of ripe fruit and a beautiful mouth feel that finishes with a soft and velvety texture. In addition, we blended some old vine Malbec and Petite Sirah to add depth and dark color to this beautiful food friendly red wine. (usual retail $24.99)

2015 Andis Estate Zinfandel:
We feel fortunate to have found one of the most sought-after Zinfandel vineyards in the region and to have built the winery amongst these storied vines. Planted in 1978 without the use of rootstock, these old vines produce limited yields of incredibly intense and flavorful grapes. A rich mouthfeel and a flavorful finish of raspberries and cocoa. Perfectly matched with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and hearty Italian fare.
"A robust component of smoky aromas and flavors give a large personality to this concentrated, ripe and extremely full-bodied wine. It practically spills over with juicy blackberry and boysenberry flavors and has a full but sleek mouthfeel backed by mild tannins." -Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast (usual retail $24.99)

Andis Wines' National Sales Manager Lorenzo will lead the tasting. Lorenzo grew up between Albania and Italy. After attending the Polytechnic University of Milan, he opened a restaurant which was soon rated one of the top ten restaurants in the region. In 2013 he moved to the US and joined the Andis team in 2015. "It was a bottle of the 2012 Andis Cabernet Franc that got me hooked on this land."
