Virtual Tasting with Winemaker Matt Kowalczyk of Buscador

I'm trying to adjust to the "new normal" and find a creative way to connect. Let's meet online with winemakers and taste some wine!

Introducing a series of 3 virtual wine tastings: Our first winemaker will be Matt Kowalczyk of Buscador. In 2006, with a dream to define truth in wine, owner/winemaker Matt Kowalczyk and wife Stephanie Lopez set out to create a unique boutique wine experience built on integrity. Ten years of searching for the best vineyards, working with the best wine makers, practicing innovative wine making techniques, and creating a distinctively different feel has now blossomed into their own winery focusing on bold Bordeaux, Rhone and Burgundian varietals. Buscador, meaning "Searcher", is about loving the search of meaning in wine, in love and in life.

Let's taste together:
2019 Buscador Vermentino: a light but extremely complex wine expressing white peach, lime and pink grapefruit with subtle notes of crushed rock and citrus zest. Usual retail $30, our price $22.50.

2018 Buscador Grenache Rosé: Berry-driven fruit character in this crisp wine with no residual sugar. Easy to drink on a hot spring day! Usual retail, our price $21.

2017 Buscador WaveSlider Syrah Blend: 70/30 blend of Syrah and Petit Sirah possesses a powerful nose, balanced acidity, layered tannins and round mouth feel. Smooth. Usual retail $46, our price $34.50.

2018 Buscador Zinfandel: Sourced from the SYV Vineyard in Happy Canyon, this wine started out jammy, turned a bit spicy and now is a classic subtle Zin with perfect balance. Note: Matt is one of only 3 winemakers making zinfandel in the Santa Ynez Valley and it is yummy. Usual retail $42, our price $31.50.

I am charging $5/person for this Meetup to pay my expenses of Paypal, the Meetup platform and a Zoom Pro subscription. But, after those bills are paid, any profit made on Inside Wine SB events before our Nov. 7th Feast of Apicius will be donated to No Kid Hungry. The proceeds from the Feast of Apicius will benefit the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum.
