Level 1 - Intro to Improv
The goal of this class is to provide you with an in-depth education about the basics of improv, build your confidence, and eventually get you up on stage. The course will cover 5 main foundations of creating improv: Trust; Yes and; Characters; Relationships; Games. Though there are many more, for the purpose of this class we will focus on these 5 central themes. All the foundations will be reviewed and used during every class, but each week will have a specific focus. The class will end with a show in which you are highly encouraged to perform and show off your awesome improv skills.

Week 2 - Jan 18th - Heat and Weight
Week 3 - Jan 25 - Finding your Deal
Week 4 - Feb 1st - New Characters
Week 5 - Feb 8th - Emotional Truth
Week 6 - Feb 15th - Realistic Scene-work
Week 7 - Feb 22nd - La Ronde rehearsal
Week 8 - March 1st - La Ronde rehearsal
Note: To qualify for level 2 you need to have completed 80% of Level 1 or have equal experience. Please enquire if you have questions.

We are a safe inclusive community space based in Vienna; we are an international group of people who want to explore, play, practice, and perform improvised arts. We treat this space with integrity and professionalism and are committed to having a harassment-free space regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body type, religion or race. Therefore the International Improv Community in Vienna will not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment or inappropriate comments - both online and in person.
Arrive on time to events and let organizers know if you are going to be late. Respect physical/emotional boundaries onstage and offstage Don’t come to sessions after drinking alcohol or on drugs - if you shouldn’t be driving, you shouldn’t be doing improv. If the scene is putting people at risk for any reason physically or emotionally, the scene can be stopped by the students or session leaders. Any concern or feedback can and should be expressed to the session leader, host, or can be emailed to any of our organizational reps. Speak up for those around you and feel free to call out disrespectful or exclusionary behaviour. Repeated violations of these guidelines can and will result in warnings, removal from session, or cancelation of membership.
