What we’re about
The easy part of building the Internet of Things (IoT) is connecting the devices. Sensors and wireless technologies accelerate the data flow from “things” to us and become the source of new project ideas. Yet the hard part is remaining mindful of the human motivations that are the foundation of the IoT. So let's connect and share your thoughts and experiences...

A truly wireless strain monitoring system
Escape Bar, Gasstrasse 1, Basel, CHDear IoT Basel Community,
We’re excited to announce our next meetup, diving into a fascinating topic that lies at the core of industrial IoT innovation: wireless strain monitoring without batteries.
While IoT has become ubiquitous in industrial monitoring, powering devices often still means dealing with batteries — adding maintenance effort and design limitations. This talk will explore a concrete example of mechanical part smartification for strain monitoring, and how such systems can be powered without any wires.
Christoph Joder will start with an introduction about CSEM's roots, organization, and mission, setting the stage for how research and industry meet in this area.
Cédric Hennemann, IoT Senior Program Manager, will guide us through the technical part, showing real data and practical design insights.Expect to learn about:
- Approaches to energy harvesting and batteryless IoT design
 - Key challenges in mechanical strain monitoring
 - Representative performance numbers from real-world implementations

As always, we’ll wrap up with time for Q&A, networking, and an aperitif in good company.
Looking forward to seeing you there for another inspiring IoT Basel evening!
Best regards,
