The cloud started about 10 years ago and has become one of the main
contributors to the digital transformation. And with new technologies come also new challenges. Which often drive new innovations.
Performance has always been part of software development. In the past
it was often considered marginal to specific applications and/or
architectures. With the cloud and millions of users going through
thousands of applications every day, it has become product feature # 1,
according to Google and many companies and researches.
But what is performance today? Performance has changed too, as it
needs to tackle new methodologies and technologies, such as containers, Continuous integration and Deployment, API and microservices, just to name a few. And the solutions used in the past not always offer adequate responses to these new needs.
The conversation with Michele Ursino will be centered on the new
challenges of performance testing and tools and techniques that can be
used to handle it.
Paola Rossaro is the Nouvola co-founder and CTO. She has more than
20 years experience in the high tech industry, providing technical and
organizational leadership in several industries, from software and core
technology to enterprise applications.
With a PhD in distributed systems performance, and a post-doc at UC
Berkeley in real time network performance, she continued her career at
Wind River (now Intel), where she has led several teams in the
distributed systems and network technology. This includes the effort for
a Test Management system, an enterprise web based platform to
automate testing for distributed devices.
Before Nouvola, she worked in two more startups in the Bay Area. As
the program manager at GainSpan, she was involved in green energy
technologies. And she was Director of Operations at Teachscape, where
she lead the team in charge of UI design and web development services.
At Nouvola, she has been in charge of the design, development and
deployment of all Nouvola products. The company is centered on new
performance testing solutions for API's and web and mobile
