And, we're back...
For this meetup, we'll be having two sessions and two speakers!
This is going to be a joint event with our friends at the New York Web Performance Group!
Check out their meetup page here: https://www.meetup.com/Web-Performance-NY/
Session 1: Performance and Authentication w/ Gerald Onyango
Gerald will discuss authentication, and how it affects performance. He'll compare using session cookies vs JWT (JSON Web Tokens) tokens, and the benefits of JWT which can be used to authenticate requests and pass data on the frontend, on the CDN edge, in functions, and on third party servers, without having to make round trips back to your database for each request.
Speaker Bio: Gerald (@futuregerald) spent many years working in IT then moved in to support engineering. Now he does development and support at Netlify.
Session 2: Even Better Performance for your Website using JAMstack tools and Techniques w/ Bud Parr
Bud Parr will show examples of tools and strategies to wring out every bit of performance from your website and get great Lighthouse scores (and what Lighthouse is). He will review getting the most out of static site generators and CDNs, techniques for loading assets and more.
Speaker Bio: Bud Parr (@budparr) is a Web Developer and Designer in New York City. He runs The New Dynamic, devoted to JAMstack tools and techniques and is organizer of the upcoming JAMstack NYC conference in the Spring of 2019.
Meetup is hosting us again. And they still have food and beer!
As always, we are going to have geekaways with geeky prizes provided by our sponsors.
