OVERVIEW
KP Dragons is a non-profit dragon boat club formed in 2001, based in Oakland, California. We are comprised of diverse members from all ages and backgrounds who want to have fun, promote a healthy lifestyle, and enjoy getting on the water to paddle.
- No prior experience is necessary
- Knowing how to swim is not required
- All ages and fitness levels can participate
- All equipment will be provided (paddles, life jackets/PFD, and instructions), but we recommend that you wear athletic clothing you don't mind getting a little wet, bring a water bottle, and protect your keys/phone in a ziploc or waterproof bag.
WHEN/WHERE?
Practices are held every weekend 8:30-10:30 at the Jack London Aquatic Center - 115 Embarcadero, Oakland, CA
- Saturday - 8:30-10:30 for experienced paddlers
- Sunday - 8:30-10:30 for first-time paddlers as well as experienced paddlers
We also participate in local and out of town races for members interested in paddling competitively.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP
The first three (3) trial practices are totally free. After your first three practices, we will ask you to formally join our team, at an annual membership rate of $150 for the full season. This serves to cover insurance, boat maintenance, and equipment upkeep. We are a non-profit, which relies on the generosity of our members and volunteers. After you join, your profile will be established on TeamSnap, where you will see our practices and upcoming races, and be notified of key announcements affecting our team.

Learn How to Dragon Boat with KP Dragons
Jack London Aquatic Center, 115 Embarcadero, Oakland, CA, USOur Sunday Meetups are for first time or inexperienced paddlers, and for experienced paddlers who wish to focus on refining their technique. All equipment is provided, but be sure to bring a water bottle and wear clothes you don't mind getting a little wet, and a ZipLoc bag for your keys/phone.
In order to RSVP a spot on the boat, please be sure to fill out the following forms before coming out. This will help us with preparing boat seating and enable us to notify you in the event that practice gets cancelled due to weather conditions. Please be sure to also show up promptly at 8:30AM so we can set you up.
