Arduino Introduction and Setup (2nd Track)

Details
Enter the next phase of electronics - Basic Robotics. This is the class everyone has been waiting for.
What is the Arduino? This is where you get to learn how to program the Arduino (the robot's brain). Arduino is a tool for making computers that can sense and control more of the physical world than your computer. It's an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple microcontroller board, and a development environment for writing software for the board. Arduino can be used to develop interactive objects, taking inputs from a variety of switches or sensors, and controlling a variety of lights, motors, and other physical outputs.
What do you need? In this particular class, you will receive your own Arduino development kit (board, cables, extra components), set it up with your laptop and learn the very first program. Make sure to bring:
- your starter kit (let me know if you don't have one)
- a laptop running Windows or Mac
The Fee: While Arduinos can be purchased from $25 (online) to $35 (Radioshack), this particular kit includes additional components and the class fee.
Ages: 8-16
Prerequisites: You should be familiar with basic electronics concepts (learned throughout our previous set of classes).
In the next set of classes, we will also use the Arduino as a programmer for some fun projects.
