Aloha friends and ocean enthusiasts! We would like to welcome you to the International Coastal Cleanup celebrating the return of whales and Hawaii wildlife! This event will be hosted by Cynthia Ho from Keep Puako Beautiful with partners Ocean Defenders Alliance, Kohala Divers LTD, South Kohala Reef Alliance, and Hawaii Boat Club!
The event will be held in the lower parking lot of the Kawaihae Shopping Center in front of Hawaii Boat Clubs. There will be an in water cleanup, lectures, and educational displays. Kay Cooper (Ocean Defenders Alliance Northern Coordinator and Scuba Diving Instructor at Kohala Divers) will be organizing the Adopt A Blue dive at Nudi bar at 9 AM. Free tank rentals from Kohala Divers, gear rentals also available if needed. Briefing will begin at 9:00 am so please arrive to Kohala Divers early to get any tanks/gear you may need to be ready at the parking lot of the Canoe Club/Kawaihae Harbor at 9:00 am.
-GLOVES REQUIRED (No exceptions)
-Open Water Certification
-Limited cutting tools available, please bring your own
-Buddies assigned on site if needed
-1 hour cleanup
-Rubbish Bags supplied
We will be sorting the rubbish and logging it on our global Dive Against Debris Database!
