Come watch WALL-E with us and then make your own Plant Friend Bot! Plants provided. Pizza by the slice. Tickets Here: https://www.eventbrite.com/edit?eid=44922429195 Minimum donation is $65 per family (up to 4 kids+adults, pls add $18 for every extra person) Proceeds to: LA Makerspace is making a book! We're going to put together a big, gorgeous photo book of our workshop guides. But most importantly, it won't be just the project instructions, it will be complete, step-by-step how-tos on leading the full workshop (such as what exactly to say to explain electricity to a kid, Maker education techniques, etc.), so that it's easy for non-educators to do (librarians, parents, volunteers). Kind of like our Hands-On AI Instructable. The format will be like a photo-comic, with a LAM Maker Facilitator and group of kids playing out each step. In order to get started, we need to hold a photo shoot and do graphic design and layout of a sample chapter. So we are holding this fundraiser to make the budget for that a reality!

Our mission is to provide a place where youth can make and learn alongside adults and where members can work on their own projects while learning new, unique maker skills through our workshops, on-going interest-based programs, mentorship, and peer learning environment. We offer affordable single classes, multi-day workshops, access to equipment, and member work & storage space.

Our volunteers, mentors and instructors hail from different backgrounds and skill sets, including: Software Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Artists, Game Designers, Scientists, Teachers, Filmmakers, Roboticists, Rocket Scientists, Librarians, Executives, Entrepreneurs, Moms, and Dads dedicated to the proposition that making things is essential to creating an awesome society. This diversity of talents and interests is currently reflected in our Board of Directors (http://www.lamakerspace.com/board_of_directors).

Currently, we have a one year fiscal sponsorship under the umbrella organization, home&community, inc. (http://homeandcommunity.org/), and we are in the process of getting our own 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
