Urban Paganism themed magazine/ezine?

Merry Meet!

As part of a recent school project (I’m studying Photography) I researched print magazines on the topic of Paganism. There are some really great publications out there, and I actually went to the bookstore today to check them out.  One of the things I noticed is, although these magazines often have really great written content, their layout and visual appeal (with some exceptions) is rather significantly lower than “mainstream” magazines.

That’s completely understandable due to budget and financial differences between the mainstream mags and the much smaller pagan publications, but as a photographer I have an interest in seeing an updated layout for a pagan magazine.  As an urban pagan myself, I also feel that there is a need for a publication dealing expressly with the unique concerns of the urban pagan.

It is because of these facts and opinions on my part that I am interested in starting up a small Urban Paganism oriented magazine with a modern publication feel.  There are several print-on-demand magazine services out there (such as MagCloud.com) that would be ideal for use in publishing a no or low budget independent pagan magazine. Ideally, I’d like to create a web zine and the print version, and have them work together without being strictly identical. That’s a lot of work, though, so perhaps that will come later.

What I’m looking for here is to gauge the level of interest in such a publication, and to see if anyone would be interested in writing/editing for the magazine.  If you are interested in working on such a magazine, regardless of whether you have had previous experience in the magazine industry, please feel free to contact me directly at amianda@secretpassageway.net. If you are interested in the idea of the magazine and would be interested in receiving or reading the magazine, feel free to comment on this list. I’d love to hear your specific ideas, comments, and questions, even if you think it’s a stupid idea :)

Thanks for your time.
