Please join us on Saturday, May 18th for our first-ever LI-DOG Pack Walk™ at San Souci County Park! LI-DOG Pack Walks™--group on-leash walks--are a great way to enjoy Long Island's beautiful parks with your dog, while meeting new friends and their pups.
Located in Sayville, Suffolk County, San Souci County Park is a 316-acre nature preserve. The name "San Souci" is French for without worry and you will be able escape the stressors of daily life by walking through this serene park. The Sans Souci lakes were one continuous lake until the mid 1800's when small dams were built to turn the land into a cranberry farm. Today you can enjoy these beautiful lakes undisturbed.
We will be walking on the Extended Loop trail which is just under 2 miles long. It is an easy, flat trail without any roots or tripping hazards, but it is not very wide, so please no retractable leashes as we as well as the dogs will get tangled up. There are several opportunities to shorten the walk if you wish, one of our pack leaders will point them out as we travel through.
Please be aware that dogs must remain leashed AT ALL TIMES on the Pack Walk™. Please also make sure to bring poop bags--as clean-up is a must!
This park has no amenities, but there is a Target shopping center on Sunrise Highway about a quarter of a mile away.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so you can sign in and we can start on time.
We hope you can join us at San Souci County Park on Sat., May 18th!
**In the event of inclement weather, please check our Meetup or Facebook Group as we will post any weather-related changes by 9 am Saturday morning. If there is no announcement, the Pack Walk is on! **
