Sunset on Sundown Ledge and Full Moon Ramble in F. Gilbert Hills State Forest.

Details
Please consider joining L.L. Bean Mansfield on Friday October 18th for our only full moon hike of the 2013 autumn season. If you’ve never joined us for a full moon hike this is the one to try. We’ll be combining the viewing of the sunset on Sundown Ledge with a hike under the full moon over well established trails and woodland fire roads. Please plan on arriving at 5:15PM at our assembly point in the circular parking area at the end of High Rock Road in F. Gilbert Hills State Forest (see directions below). Sunset occurs at 5:58PM so we’ll want to get started on time to complete the short 15 minute hike to Sundown Ledge, arriving 10-15 minutes before the sun slips below the horizon. Please plan on bringing a flashlight and/or headlamp to use as we wait for the Full Hunter’s Moon to rise to guide our excursion. After viewing the sunset we’ll plan on rambling along the many fire roads that run thru the state forest and find our route back to our vehicles at High Rock. This hike should run 2 to 3 hours and cover about 3 miles in distance.
