Lazy Ass invasion of Zion National Park!
Welcome to Zion Camp located in Southern Utah. We will be spending the weekend at Watchman Campground, Group Site O003 The campground is located just inside the main entrance to the park. We have room for 35 people & 8 cars. All extra cars must park in the overflow parking nearby after you offload your gear. The vehicle entry fee to enter Zion National Park is $30 ... good for 7 days!
Send $20 to david@coronatrails.org to be moved from Waitlist to Going.
First come, first served!
SATURDAY: LETS HIKE THE NARROWS
From camp, we will hike to the visitors center and board the 8 am shuttle bus to begin our journey to the Narrows! We will offload at Temple of Sinawava. From there we will regroup and make our way along the riverwalk to the mouth the Narrows. Exploring the Narrows is a slow Trek, but very rewarding, this will be an adventure, you'll always remember 😊Mileage on this one is 2 - 8 miles out & back...whatever you are comfortable with. With extended time in the water, fatigue could become a factor. Know your limitations!
Narrows checklist includes: water (2 liters) nutritious snacks/ lunch, canyoneering boots, neoprene socks, wood hiking stick, day pack, sunscreen, WAG BAG, trash bag, warm layer, zip lock bag to keep your items dry. I would suggest an extra pair of dry shoes to change into after the hike. You can rent some of the above-mentioned items from ZionOutfitter.com. Click on The Narrows on their home page to view their rental equipment! You can reserve online for Saturday, April 27th, I'm going to rent the Summer package: boots & wooden staff for$25
*Saturday night Pot Luck / Barbecue *
At the conclusion of the Narrows hike we are planning to have a potluck/barbecue at camp! As the trip gets closer we will put together a list of things to bring.
SUNDAY: PICK YOUR TRAIL DAY
Angels Landing, Emerald Pools, Watchman Trail, and Observation Point to name a few... A great choice is a morning hike up Observation Point. You would board the shuttle bus to Weeping Rock trailhead. The 8 mile, 2500 foot climb to Observation Point offers some spectacular views of Zion! Some might hike Walters Wiggles & Angels Landing. An early morning start is advisable due to crowded trails!

CAMPING *
The advantage of a group camp is the extra space. Room for multiple tents, picnic tables with covered shelters, and a large fire pit area for Lazy Ass Campfire. ( Campfire goodies such as Beer, wine, and spirits are limited in Zion area and are heavily taxed by the State - so prepare accordingly). Springdale has a general store & restaurants. The Zion Outfitters have pay showers within walking distance of camp. I will have my barbecue at camp for those wishing to Q it up! Some of us will have stoves for your cooking needs as well 😊
