More and more, developers are expected not just to know how their apps get deployed, but to own that process, and “git push heroku master” will only get you so far.
Many engineering organizations now expect developers to know about CI, CD, micro services, Docker, and maybe Kubernetes and load balancing, as a baseline. This can be a burden, or it can incredibly exciting accelerator of your work as a developer.
Galvanize is excited to have Web Development Immersive alumnus David Sudia teach a beginners guide to DevOps! He will provide a brief overview of these technologies, followed by a code (and integrate and deploy!) along to get a feel for how DevOps works and can work for you.
Bring a laptop, and be familiar (but, you know, you don’t have to be friends) with Node, Yaml and the command line.
Check out the repository we will be using: https://github.com/thedevelopnik/devops101
Pizza and beverages provided!
