Predictive Analytics Case Study - Property Tax Foreclosure Early Warning System
Overview: We're excited to announce that LHPA, in partnership with ILTA, will welcome Ken Steif, the Program Director of University of Pennsylvania's Master of Urban Spatial Analytics (MUSA) program and Jonathan Pyle of Philadelphia Legal Assistance to discuss the development of their Property Tax Foreclosure Early Warning System. The current process for reaching homeowners at risk of property tax foreclosure is limited, with door-to-door outreach only occurring in locations with funding from the Neighborhood Advisory Committee Program. The Property Tax Foreclosure Early Warning System, developed by MUSA students in the spring of 2018, is designed to assist both legal advocates and the city in identifying residential property owners who are at high risk of tax foreclosure. In this way, the early warning system represents a wonderful example of how thoughtful data-driven analysis can be used to address significant client needs in the market. Key takeaways will include an overview of the Property Tax Foreclosure Early Warning System, lessons learned from the use of predictive analytics in legal services and opportunities for other applications of predictive analytics in the industry. There will be time for discussion and Q&A, and our speakers will also be available beyond 1:00 PM for further Q&A and networking. Logistics: The event will take place on November 1st from 12-1:30 and will be hosted at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, 1701 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Lunch will be provided thanks to the support of our generous event sponsor, Kira. Registration: So that we can get an accurate attendee count, registration for the event will be managed through ITLA. To registered please use ILTA registration link provided in the group message board. We are locking down Meetup registration. Thanks and look forward to seeing you there, LHPA Organizers
