✅(A) Event Details :--

  • Date: 12Dec2020(Sat) 330pm at Boon Lay MRT Station.
  • Charge: $10/person for guided walk
  • Group Size: 5pax/group with safety distance of 1 m
  • A group-chat to inform on time and venue to meet.
  • No refund if cannot make it but replacement of participant is allowed.
  • No show on that day will have no refund.

✅(B) Phase 2 Safety Guidelines:-

  • Social distancing of 1 meter has to maintained at all times.
  • Before attending, do temperature screening at home and <37.5 C
  • Avoid handshake and sharing of food etc.

✅(C) Attractions:
👉 End of Jurong Road
Built in the 19th century, Jurong Road was the oldest road in the western part of Singapore and stretching over 10 miles (16km) long, Jurong Road was home to many former kampongs, including the westernmost Tuas Village.
The construction of new roads into Tengah Way, Tengah Boulevard, and Plantation Loop as well as neighbouring parks have forced the Permanent Closure of Jurong Road and the Bus Service 174 Route Amendment since 27 Sep 2020. We will walk along the abandoned bus-stops and roads to look back how the Tuas Village used to be like.

👉 Tengah Forest, Fast Disappearing Forest At Jurong Road
Tengah forest town has been about the environmental impact of 700ha of Tengah forest and with the completion of the housing development, only 10 percent of the current forest will be left.
Just before the forest is gone completely, we will have the opportunity to look those gardens currently operating and how the past villagers maintaining their farms.
Tengah forest town is the up-and-coming new housing district with a size akin to Bishan and attractive to home buyers for its futuristic masterplan that includes going car-lite, having community farms and centralised cooling system.

👉 JURONG ECO GARDEN
The Jurong Eco-Garden (JEG) is Singapore’s first freshwater swamp forest located within an industrial park and boasts 5ha of lush greenery and various wildlife such as butterflies and migratory birds. We will explore the freshwater swamp, streams and walking on the Nature Trail to look at the amazing variety of wildlife and nature. The Nature Trail is a fairly easy route on an all-flat terrain.

👉 Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle and Dragon Kiln

Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle has been owned and operated by the Tan family for three generations in making and selling ceramic pottery. It is home to the last functioning dragon kiln which is no longer used commercially, the Tan family fires up the dragon two to three times each year for clay artists to use and spectators to witness.
