Speakers' details and partial abstract:
- Brian Byrne is a veteran IT Manager, who remembers Mainframes, FORTRAN, COBOL and ALGOL as if it were like yesterday.
When not planning community events on Linux, Raspberry Pi and IoT devices Brian speaks in paragraphs and drinks a lot of tea. One of his saving graces is, he doesn’t take himself or others too seriously.
He does a lot, a lot of Linux, a lot but not exclusively so. Linux was his ~15th+ operating system in the early 1990s. He managed a mass of OpenVMS systems for Banks, etc, even the odd PDP-11!
- David Spurway has over 23 years of experience within IBM Systems. He started work with IBM in 1995.
David has worked in a variety of roles, including Support, Technical Sales, Implementation, Management and Systems Architecture. He now works as the IBM Power Systems CTO for the UK and Ireland.
He has been certified as an Advanced Technical Expert in AIX, and has also been Technically Certified for IBM Power Systems, IBM System z and IBM System x. Over the years, he has presented at a range of internal and external conferences, including those run by the IBM Academy of Technology.
- Andy Stanford-Clark is IBM CTO - UK and Ireland
Distinguished Engineer, Master Inventor, IBM Q Ambassador,
Member IBM Academy of Technology, Fellow BCS
Visiting Professor at Newcastle, Southampton and UEA.
- Emanuil Tolev is a Community Engineer with Elastic. He used to be a freelance web developer and ran a small open science web development consultancy with partners for several years. Interested in FOSS, mentorship, inclusion, small businesses, archery and always curious about how the world works in detail.
He codes in Python, Ruby and JS.
