Event Schedule

  • 20th September - 6.30pm - Evening session - coach training session.
The volunteer training session is to help you prepare and give a great experience to our workshop attendees.

We will talk about the aims of the event, the experience we want to create and review how to guide the students through the workshop content.

  • 28th September - Evening session - We give a general introduction to Clojure and the communtity, talking about and demoing the types of things you can do with Clojure. We try and pair coaches and students together so they can start straight away on Saturday.

Optionally, if students would like a specific development environment set up, the coaches should help with that. The students can use the REPL built into the workshop content, or their own preferred environment.

Refreshments will be available.

  • 29th September - Day session - You will guide students through the Clojure concepts and help the students carry out coding exercises.

Most of the day is about encouraging and supporting the students to learn, answering questions and helping them think through the little coding exercises.

Its important to attend the evening session on the Friday evening as we try an match up the students with the coaches. If you can only make Saturday, please let the organisers know, we can always accomodate a few more volunteers.

Refreshments
Food and drinks will be provided throughout the event, so please let us know if you have any special requirements when you register.

Code of Conduct
We provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, so we will be asking all learners and event volunteers to adhere to our code of conduce, an anti-harassment policy which will be strictly enforced. Please report any incidents to Mike Jetson.

Laptops
Each volunteer can bring a laptop if you want to show any demos or help you search through Clojure docs or Stack Overflow.

You should also bring connections to connect to an external screen if doing a Friday night demo.

If you have questions about Clojure environments, send an email to one of the organizers before the event!
