Hello all, after a brief hiatus we're excited to have a new Meetup in April! We're working to get back to regular monthly Meetups so stay tuned.

Schedule:

7:00 PM BST: Welcome and announcements

7:10 PM BST: "How to build a Python service using open source components that connect, transform and deliver data in real time" -- Tomas Neubauer and Javier Blanco Cordero

This demo offers developers and engineers of all sort the opportunity to learn about streaming data, machine learning and real-time analytics by watching us build a chat application that keeps unwanted language out and tracks the positive or negative quality of each message let in. We'll use open-source components that connect, transform and deliver data in real time. We'll also train and use two machine learning models — one to assess sentiment analysis and one to detect abusive language — and use model artifacts that have already been trained. Finally, we’ll build the MLOps that cope with streaming infrastructure to read from the chat topic, connect to the Twilio API and deep-learning models. This stack and architectures means Python developers can handle data on your own, without IT or data support.

Tomas Neubauer is a co-founder and the CTO at Quix, works as a technical authority for the engineering team and is responsible for the direction of the company across the full technical stack. He was previously technical lead at McLaren, where he led architecture uplift for Formula 1 racing real-time telemetry acquisition. He later led platform development outside motorsport, reusing the know-how he gained from racing.

Javier Blanco Cordero is a senior data scientist at Quix, where he helps customers get the most out of their data science projects. He was previously a senior data scientist at Orange, developing churn prediction, marketing mix modeling, propensity to purchase models and more. Javier is a master's lecturer and speaker specializing in pragmatic data science and causality.

7:45 PM Lightning talks. TBD, please contact the organisers if you'd like to participate.
