Mini-Retreat
Led by
Master Thich Chan Phap Dang
Sunday, December 13th, 2009
in Broward County, FL
From 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Thich Chan Phap Dang has been a monastic Dharma teacher in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh since 1996. He holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from San Diego State University and is the former Abbot of Maple Forest Monastery (Thich Nhat Hanh's Monastery in Vermont). In the U.S., he has co-led retreats at the Omega institute, the University of Massachusetts, and Thay's Monasteries. In addition, he has led retreats in many countries around the world, including Canada, Brazil, Israel, Taiwan, Vietnam, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Israel and Greece. He currently practices at Tu Hieu Monastery in Vietnam and is a member of a team of Plum Village Dharma teachers, responsible for training about 400 novice monks and nuns at Bat Nha Monastery (Thich Nhat Hanh's Monastery in Vietnam), and teaching the Art of Mindful Living in Southeast Asia. In 2009, while training the monastics in Vietnam, he led a teaching tour in mindfulness practice and Buddhist psychology in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Japan.

The Mini-Retreat will be conducted in English and Vietnamese in Plum Village style. Throughout the day, we will enjoy periods of chanting, sitting, and walking meditation, as well as Th?y Nhat Hanh?s Mindful Movements and stick exercises, deep relaxation, and tea meditation. We will also enjoy Dharma Teachings from Masters Thich Chan Phap Dang and Thich Chan Huong Hue as well as periods of Questions and Answers and Dharma Sharing from the four-fold Sangha. This Mini-Retreat will be a wonderful opportunity for those who want to deepen their mindfulness practice with time for reflection and silence. Three delicious vegetarian meals will be provided.

We recommend that you attend the whole day; however, if unable, please let us know when you register what portion of the day you will be attending.

To register, please RSVP here and send a check payable to the Broward Lotus Sangha to: P.O. Box[masked], Pembroke Pines, FL 33024. If instead you bring cash or check to one of the Sangha meetings before this event, please make sure we know what it's for! The minimum donation requested to attend this event is $50.00. This helps defray the costs associated with providing attendees beverages, meals, and retreat space, as well as the Dharma Teacher's travel expenses. Please register early as space is limited and we need to know how many meals to provide. Directions will be sent to all registered participants.

In the Buddhist spirit of generosity and inclusiveness, Dharma Teachings are offered free of charge. However, your generosity in providing an additional donation or Dana for the dharma teacher and the monastic Sangha is gratefully accepted and encouraged. Your kind donation is greatly appreciated
