This month Scott Sievert will be presenting Jupyter Lab -- a next generation web-based IDE for python development. Here's what he has to say about it:

Jupyter notebooks are popular in data science, open science and research. They many tangible benefits, both in sharing code/results and developing code. As such, there's been an explosion of interesting tools in the Jupyter ecosystem. In particular, a new frontend to Jupyter notebooks has been developed. It's called Jupyter Lab and is an interactive development environment. I'll explain the motivation but it's best shown through example.
