What we're about

We are a group dedicated to the revival and promotion of social and partner ballroom dance through education, practice, and social gatherings in a comfortable group setting. There are many groups dedicated to other singular styles such as Salsa, Swing and Contemporary, our concentration is on the traditional Ballroom Standard (Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quick Step, Viennese Waltz), Latin (Cha-Cha, Rumba, Bolero, Swing, Mambo), and sometimes may include social club dances (Merengue, Salsa, and others). If you are not experienced, that's OK but you must understand you can't learn any of these properly in one or two classes. A series lasts 4 to 8 weeks and, as we build week to week, no new members after the first week. This group is not intended to promote other organizations or businesses but to develop and encourage the enjoyment of social partner dance.

We require you to use your real name (first name at least) and a current head shot photo of just you. You can't be anonymous and dance!! If you join, we ask that you take two polls under "More" above to let us know what dance styles you want to learn and when you're available.

Rumba - Canceled - Not Enough Interest

Dance Easy

Please read completely before RSVPing. There is no need to RSVP "No" unless you have RSVP'd "Yes". Make sure you RSVP for ALL sessions so we know we're balanced. We do rotate partners but don't want anyone out too long. This is a social/beginner level class, we will be starting at the most basic level, and everyone is welcomed. This series is for 4 sessions starting April 1st. No new students after the second week. (April 8th) without instructor approval. Rumba has a rich history – it started as both a family of music and a dance style that originated in Africa and came to the new world with the slave trade. This became the cabaret dance that flourished in America during prohibition. All of the styles, however, share similar movements that have a wonderfully sensual, rhythmic quality. Rumba is the basic and simplest of the Latin dances and the timing, hip movement and the romantic elements of Rumba will carry you on to Cha-cha, Mambo, and Salsa. All classes are taught to USISTD American Bronze syllabi, recognized as one of the world standards. We will cover the 6 -8 most important figures to prepare you to look great at any wedding, reunion, or social dance. You must have clean dry shoes that will allow you to swivel and pivot. No street shoes. If you have questions about shoes, contact me. There is a $40 charge for the 4 week series. Beginner Waltz - Canceled - Not Enough Interest

The waltz started out as a country folk dance in Austria and Bavaria in the 1600s. When it was later introduced into English ballrooms in the early 1800s, it was denounced as vulgar by both the church and state because this was the first time you saw a man holding a lady so close to his body in public. Of course, that was also what made it so appealing. The waltz has many different forms, but all of them maintain that original romance and wonderful flowing quality. We will cover the 6 -8 most important figures to prepare you to look great at any wedding, reunion, or social dance.
