A huge thanks to Rebekah and AkitaBox for sponsoring breakfast! We'll have pastries, bagels, coffee and orange juice. (Psst! AkitaBox is hiring (https://home.akitabox.com/careers).)

Women in technology are underrepresented on Wikipedia - by a LOT. The category "computer programmers", for example, lists pages for about 180 people ... of whom fewer than 10 are women.
Part of the reason for this disparity is because about 90% of Wikipedia contributors are men. Let's change that!
Never edited wikipedia before? No idea where to start or what to do? No problem - we've got you covered.
Attendees will view a tutorial on how to contribute to Wikipedia, and we'll have several experienced editors on-hand to answer questions and help with trouble-shooting.
What can I do?
No experience is required! There are a ton of ways you can participate as an individual or partnering with a friend or fellow WiT member, including:
• Write new articles (we'll have a list of suggestions available)
• Help with research (we'll have pre-selected library books on-hand)
• Fact-check existing articles
• Add citations to existing articles
• Expand existing articles
• And more!
When
Come anytime between 9am and noon!

We're working on finding a sponsor for some breakfast treats and snacks (let us know if your company is interested: admin@madisonwomen.tech). We recommend bringing a laptop if you have one, but the library is also providing about 10 for us to use, so don't let that stop you!
Kids are welcome :)
A huge thanks to Madison Public Library and The ArtWrite Collective (https://theartwritecollective.org/) for their help making this event possible.
