This workshop is open and welcome to all genders, so feel free to bring your friends! We'll be learning how to quickly and effectively "pitch" - be it a business idea, project idea, or yourself.
We're excited to co-host this free event with Madison Startup Weekend, whose 2019 main event will be April 26th to 28th (https://www.swmadison.com/).
We'll have socializing and networking from 5:30pm to 6pm; you're welcome to arrive anytime in that half hour. The workshop will begin at 6pm, and go until 7 or 7:30pm.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
"You're a creative person with an idea bubbling in your brain. How do you get others excited about that idea? What will make the difference in making your idea a reality? It'll be the way you communicate it to the world: the way you pitch it.
Join the Startup Weekend team for an informal workshop where you'll learn the qualities of a great pitch, get to practice pitching about neutral topics, and get the chance to practice and receive feedback on your own pitch."
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Fred Turkington is a software project manager and full-stack web developer. He's currently the Director of Operations at Ten Forward Consulting in Madison, and volunteers with Startup Weekend and code.forGood(). Before helping organize Startup Weekend, Fred was a participant. He founded a startup with a few of his teammates, and they went on to graduate from the gBeta accelerator program.
Talk to him about intrapreneurship inside large companies, ultimate, Flask, and Elm.
There is parking in the lot behind the building (accessible via Segoe Road) and on the streets next to the building, which has a wheelchair accessible entrance in the back (by the parking lot). Ten Forward is near stops for the #2, #14, #10, #15, #70 and #6 bus routes. The doors lock at 6pm, but we'll have someone at the door until about 6:10pm.
There are gender-neutral bathrooms at Ten Forward; while the workshop is not aimed at children, feel free to bring yours along. ❤️
