ABOUT THE TALK

How do you start writing online, let alone get paid for it? Medium is a people centered platform that prioritizes the experience of readers and writers. Cakelin will share their experience writing for Tech Disability Project. Come learn how you too can use Medium to share your personal path, experiences and thoughts to empower yourself and inspire others. We will discuss how to leverage Medium publications for visibility and accountability, as well as Medium’s new Partnership Program for payments. You’ll leave this talk with a few article ideas and publications to start sharing your unique perspective on Medium.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Cakelin is a writer for machines and humans. They are currently a Full Stack Software Engineer at POLCO, a civic engagement platform for local government and advocacy groups. Cakelin is always looking to up their 10 years of STEM outreach, teaching and inclusion advocacy. If they aren’t writing poetry or reading up on policy and science, they’re probably watching sci-fi with their service dog and retired greyhound Franklin.

SCHEDULE

We'll have socializing and networking from 6:30pm to 7pm; you're welcome to arrive anytime in that half hour. Cakelin's talk will begin promptly at 7pm.

We'll have additional networking from around 8pm to 8:30pm.

TRANSPORTATION

There's street parking and several garages on/around the Capitol.

ACCESSIBILITY

Adorable is an accessible building. All genders and children are welcome! We won't have specific activities for kids, but they are nonetheless welcome to attend. Please reach out to the host if you have any specific needs. Thanks!
