What we're about

We are the Madison Run Club: a versatile group of people from all ages, backgrounds, and abilities that have one thing in common… we love to run! Madison is a great running town with a plethora of trails and paths to choose from, whether it be a trail run through the Arboretum or a jog around Monona Bay. We host at least one run almost every day of the week and welcome runners of all abilities. Don’t be intimidated when you join us for your first run- we are a very friendly group and chances are that there will be a subgroup running your pace. We try very hard to make sure no one runs alone because above all we are a social running group and nobody should be left behind!

Sunday morning meetup run

EVP Sequoya

From the Sequoya EVP we will run to the bike path towards the capitol. There will be options for 3-6 miles or more, including a there-and-back route or a loop. For anyone interested there is also the option to stop in at EVP (or another coffee shop) for refreshments, breakfast, coffee etc. after the run. Please note that by attending this run, you agree that you are in good health to run. By RSVP'ing Yes to this run, you also accept that you run at your own risk and you and you alone are responsible for anything that happens to you.

Monday Night Arboretum Run

Location visible to members

For the Monday night run, we're going to go at a nice, comfortable pace (est. 8:30-10:00 min pace) and try to keep the group together. The route will take us around lake Wingra for around 6 miles, with turnaround options for a shorter run. Please note that by attending this run, you agree that you are in good health to run. By RSVP'ing Yes to this run, you also accept that you run at your own risk and you and you alone are responsible for anything that happens to you.

Tuesday Evening Run

Up North Bar

Why run 4 to 5 miles on a Tuesday? Here's some good reasons: 1) It feels great when you're done 2) We are a very fun and friendly group of dedicated (i.e. crazy) folks who run in all weather 4) For the victory beer/snack afterwards! We will meet in the parking lot in front of the Up North Bar on the corner of E. Wilson St. & S. Blair St. across from Machinery Row Bicycles. The Up North Bar is connected to (and owned by) the Essen Haus. I will wait a few extra minutes for latecomers, but the run will leave at 6:35pm. Afterwards, we generally stop in Come Back Inn or Essen Haus for a pint/bite. Both places are quite welcoming to a table-full of sweaty runners! There are 2 routes to choose from off the Capital City Trail. In the summer, when the group tends to grow, we have a pretty wide range of paces. In the winter, our group tends to be smaller. In either case, we encourage you to check out the route beforehand. We welcome all paces, and at the end of the run, we always wait outside until everyone has returned. Route 1 5 mile Around the Bay Loop. Route (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4387427) Route 2 4 mile out and back to Olin Park. If you are feeling uncertain about the route or pace, this is a great route to start with. Pacific Cycle Bike Trail Run

Pacific Cycle

During fall/winter--we're going to do perhaps a 4-6 mile bike trail run starting at the parking lot at Pacific Cycle 6.2 miles/10 K?--towards Camp Randall 4.4 miles?-- (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6108436) to Commonwealth Street and back This would be a great opportunity to meet the group, if you haven't had a chance to yet. We're seeing more and more people at the runs, and I hope that trend continues. The place where we are going after the run is to be decided as a group--the default location is Babes on Schroeder Road. I would gladly welcome any other suggestions. Please note that by attending this run, you agree that you are in good health to run. By RSVP'ing Yes to this run, you also accept that you run at your own risk and you and you alone are responsible for anything that happens to you.
