What we’re about
MWUG, the Manchester WordPress User Group is run by the WordPress co-founder, Mike Little with support from group members.
We are a friendly, supportive bunch from in and around Manchester, UK, who use the open source web publishing software WordPress to blog, design and develop websites. We love sharing technical and marketing expertise to help others achieve what they intend through WordPress.
We run as a collective, with various events from co-working, discussions, picnic in the park to talk sessions. We actively encourage members to reach out, propose and/ or help organise events.
We welcome all interest whether you are a keen programmer, entrepreneur or hobby blogger wanting to maximise the potential of your WordPress blog.

💬 Talk - Everything but the Code: The Stuff I've Learned as a WordPress Freelancer
In 2018, I left my developmental director job and became a freelancer, and whilst the code and actually doing the work was relatively simple, there were plenty of other things I had to figure out. There are thousands of talks about code and making WordPress work, but this is the boring stuff they don't tell you about - where and how to pitch for work, setting yourself up for success, contracts, paying yourself and how to maintain a healthy work/life balance. This talk is the one I wished I heard when I began.This talk is given by the co-organiser Rhys Wynne, who is a long time WordPress freelancer and developer. The MWUG meet-ups run every other month, usually on the second Tuesday of the month. However for one month only we're on the first Tuesday of the month!
We will be in Stockport at the Merseyway Innovation Centre. Further details of transport are below.
Attendance is free, but limited to 30 people, so please do make sure you RSVP and update the RSVP if your circumstances change.

🚶🏻♀️Walking: The ground floor office door is between McDonalds and Superdrug on Merseyway, Stockport. Please ring the buzzer.

🚂 Train station: Stockport Train Station is a 15 minutes walk away.
🚌 Bus station: Stockport Interchange is 10 minutes walk away.
🚗 Car parking: The Merseyway/ Red Rock car park. This has two entrances so please read below for the best entranceThe best car park entrance for the office is the one on High Bank Side. https://maps.app.goo.gl/wbGjSfaz7kRnvTEQ6 should take you straight to where the car park is. It is a pay on arrival car park.
Once you enter the car park, there will be mini roundabout; take a right at the mini round about and park near the big building.
There you should be able to take the lift or stairs down to the first floor ( final floor you can go with that set of stairs/ lift ). When you come out, you will be one level above the main shopping street.
Turn right, and you will be facing the office building which has a big sign on the side of it. You do not need to go to street level to get to the office.
