Hare Krishna Temple Dinner & Q&A ($6)

This is our annual trip to the Hare Krishna temple. If you have never been, it's well worth coming and checking it out. This is a cash only event.

Although it is possible to get a non-vegan meal at the temple on Sunday, Sundays are just too crowded with the regular congregation to accommodate us. So, the temple would prefer we come on Friday so they can make a special vegan meal for our group, as well as prepare a talk and tour of the temple. It's just too hectic on Sundays.

The Hare Krishnas are the ones who got me started on the path towards a plant based diet, through their cookbook Higher Taste. They have a long history of promoting a shift away from meat for compassionate reasons. They've also launched their Ahimsa milk program to address if not the environmental issues, at least the ethical ones in the dairy industry. ( http://www.ahimsamilk.org/ )

Our group is in no way affiliated with the Hare Krishnas, but we are pleased to drop in now and again to learn more about this interesting group.

This meal is not simply by donation--we are paying for it. Cost is $6 per person paid by cash to the Meetup organizer at the event and includes everything including the meetup chip in fee and generally pretty close to all you can eat. It's a sweet deal!

Directions: Head East on Marine Drive. Keep straight on Marine drive which will become Marine Way. Turn left on Nelson Ave. Turn Right on Marine Drive to 5462 Marine Drive.
