Please sign-in at the registration area at the entrance. Thank you! Come join us for food and drinks as the Metis team walks you through a sampling of what students learn during their 12 weeks of project-based data science work. You'll also hear a capstone project from alumni and learn about how to prepare, what to expect, and what happens after you attend the Metis Data Science Bootcamp. Schedule 6:00 - 6:30 - Register, mingle, eat & drink 6:30 - 7:00 - Overview of the Metis program provided by staff 7:00 - 7:30 - Metis staff and alumni answers questions about Admissions, Careers, Instruction, and other topics 7:30 - 8:00 - Follow-up Chat with guests, staff, and alumni About our Guest Alumni Mattie Terzolo is a Data Scientist at Zumper. He holds a bachelors of science from the University of Colorado in Marketing and Information Management. At Nielsen, he helped his clients understand the impacts pricing and promotional activities had on revenue. More recently, Mattie finished the Metis data science course in order to broaden his data science tool belt and dive deeper on fundamental statistical concepts. Mattie is interested in connecting data science to non-technical audiences and sharing insights from his work with the broader community. An Hoang graduate from the Metis Bootcamp in December 2019. Hehas always had an insatiable curiosity to understand the world through math and science, which led him to intern with the Defense Satellite Program at Northrop Grumman in his senior year of high school at the California Academy of Mathematics and Science. He pursued his interest and took three years of physics at UC Berkeley, concurrent to pursuing a Japanese degree and a dancing career. While living his passion as a professional dancer, he continued teaching himself statistics, probability, and Bayesian modeling in R through textbooks, as well as Python coding skills in order to understand exciting developments in the burgeoning field of data science and artificial intelligence. In his final project, he is thrilled to share a state-of-the-art instance segmentation algorithm in computer vision as applied to pedestrian.
