I really need to be in the mountains, breathing the air, feeling the mountain breeze, always on the lookout for wildflowers and intimate landscapes. Join me.
I have a favorite spot above Nederland. It takes some driving to get there, and the road is a bit rugged. Once there, there the opportunity exists for hiking (in several directions), moving water, views, old abandoned buildings, potentially some wildlife. Plan for variable weather - we'll be at altitude so dress accordingly, including boots. Bug spray - YES, there are lots of biting creatures.
Bring your camera(s), tripod, lens/lenses, filters . . . great opportunities for some landscape work (overlook into the Indian Peaks wilderness area nearby), flowers, abstracts fences, aspen groves. It's a beautiful area.
This will be a very small group, and we will not car pool. Please keep your RSVP current - if something changes and you cannot make it, change your RSVP; especially important if we have a wait list.
Please have your mask with you. We will maintain social distancing, and if you want to work closely, you MUST wear a mask as a courtesy to all.
I'll send you further meeting location (we will likely caravan) and other changes that may come up. There is no phone reception at this location.
Looking forward to being in this area; a bit of an underused beauty.
Denver Botanic Gardens has re-opened. The water lilies are lovely right now; many other late summer plants are also sharing their beauty. Let's meet for a group socially-distanced gathering and soak up some beauty!
* You must purchase your tickets in advance (members are free) tickets are here at the DBG web site: https://www.botanicgardens.org/
* You MUST wear a face mask the entire time you are in the Gardens
* The bathrooms are open and open and clean.
* There is limited food/beverage available in the Gardens
* The gift shop has re-opened - closes at 5 pm
Bring your camera, I also suggest a tripod. Whatever lens/lenses you prefer to shoot with. For the water lilies - you'll need some reach, so bring a longer lens/zoom. I also recommend a polarizer.
The Gardens are always a great opportunity for close up work as well. Get up close and personal, get some pollen on your lens!
Date: Friday, Aug 14
Time: 5 pm (as of 8/8 at 5:22 pm there were plenty of tickets left)
Meet inside the Gardens. You'll enter through a gate south of the main door, I'll be in that courtyard to meet you. Masked, carrying my camera and tripod, and whatever assortment of lenses I choose for the afternoon.
Please note: because of COVID-19, attendance is strictly limited. Please keep your RSVP up to date so others may join.
