I just spent 21 days on a photo safari in Tanzania and can actually say it was one of the best experiences I have ever had doing photography (so much for landscapes). We are now lucky enough to have the opportunity of having Russ showcase one of his latest presentations. Hope you join us. The Serengeti A Nature Photographers Paradise:
For the wildlife photographer, the Serengeti is the ultimate. The number of animals along with their openness to be approached is beyond comprehension. It provides an environment unlike anywhere else on the planet. From the moment I saw my first wild zebra, I was hooked. I vowed to return to this special place. Thankfully I’ve been bestowed the opportunity numerous times. During my presentation I will dispense facts about the animals and their environment, share photo tips on how to make captivating images, provide info about how I made the pics, and most of all, share my enthusiasm and hope my feeling is contagious.

The first 35 minutes is a “Cliff Notes” presentation of the information I’ve absorbed and learned first hand about the Serengeti. It’s also a HOW TO on photography as I provide numerous photo tips/information on how to make great wildlife pics regardless where you travel. The final 15 minutes is a photo journey set to music featuring many images that illustrate the tips and tricks to which I allude during Part 1.

BIO:
Russ Burden is the owner of Russ Burden Nature Photography Tours. Now retired, he used to run workshops around the US to prime locations along with multiple photo safaris to Tanzania at different times of the year. He is internationally published and his commercial work is marketed through Getty Images. His photos have appeared in magazines and advertisements around the world. His wildlife and scenic images have appeared on calendars published by Self Realization Fellowship, Kodak, Audubon, Sierra Club, National Wildlife, National Geographic Traveler, and more.

Russ wrote The Tip of the Week for the Outdoor Photographer website for years. He has hundreds of archived tips that can still be found on the internet. Russ wrote numerous HOW TO articles for Outdoor Photographer, Popular Photography, and Petersen’s PHOTOgraphic. He has two books to his credit - Amphoto's Complete Guide to Photography and The Best of Nature by Amherst Media. Russ authored all the curriculums used in the nationally acclaimed Digital Photo Academy workshops.

Russ is a multiple time winner of the prestigious Nature’s Best Windland Smith Rice Award. As a result, his images have been displayed in the Smithsonian, the Iziko Museum in South Africa, in addition to other honored locations.

This urban photo walk will cover the heart of downtown Englewood on South Broadway, including the art deco Gothic Theater dating to the 1920's. Come for your personal style of photography from street to urban to neon signs to abstract. We'll meet in front of the Breakfast Queen at 3460 S Broadway. There is a free pubic parking lot in the 3400 block of S Lincoln with a walkway through to Broadway adjacent to the meeting point. This date is the second Saturday when art galleries are open late and there will be more pedestrian traffic than usual.

Join us for our monthly critique session with Bryan Lopez. These reviews are positive in nature and include helpful suggestions and comments as well as live application of suggestions. The purpose of these sessions is to help us all improve our photography, and gives the photographer the opportunity to see what changes would look like applied to their photos. The style and depth of the review is totally up to the submitting photographer.

Come join us at the swim beach in Chatfield State Park to photograph the annual Witches Paddle to benefit Sacred Sisters. The launch of the paddling witches begins at 9 a.m. with a costume contest at 11:30. This is a first-time event for our meetup group and more details are likely to follow as we obtain more information. This will be a fun event with ample opportunity to photograph witches and others in wonderful Halloween costumes, We may even get an opportunity to capture a witch or two falling into the water.

Participating photographers will likely need to pay admission to the park. The event goes on until 1 p.m. so you can stay as long as you like. The photo was taken from the Witches Paddle website since we did not have a photo of our own. If you have further information or a suggestion for a more specific meeting place, please let me know.
