This is a group that meets locally to discuss and/or practice topics of general health and wellness, particularly topics related to Yoga and Meditation, but also including topics such as healthy lifestyle, nutrition, detox, exercise & fitness, alternative medicine, holistic health, and stress reduction. Many meetings are free. If you would like to offer a presentation on one of the topics mentioned above, please contact the organizer.

Yoga 101 with Ritu Kapur via Zoom

Whether this is the first time you’ve stepped onto a Yoga mat, or you’d like the opportunity to work with experienced Yoga instructors, this class is perfect for you. We’ll be delving into various Yoga poses combined with Yogic breathing. The philosophy and science of this ancient, yet modern, practice will be woven in to give a complete introduction to yoga. Benefits of this class include: • In-depth instruction on alignment • Introduction to various types of Yoga postures • A slower pace, with an opportunity for questions to be asked as needed Ritu completed her Advanced Masters in Occupational Therapy from B.U in 1993 and is currently the Rehab Director at a skilled nursing facility. She was exposed to Yoga at an early age in India and became a Certified Yoga teacher in 2009 which influenced her life dramatically. Developing a daily personal practice came naturally and after some introspection, she knew she had to combine OT and Yoga. She has since taught Yoga to private clients and at Whittier Rehab to many people with different conditions including stroke, MS, and Fibromyalgia. Pranayama and Chakra Meditation via Zoom

Virtual Pranayama and Chakra Meditation Join Ritu Kapur every Wednesday morning for a unique class. We will focus on the Science of breathing called Pranayama. You will learn different types of pranayama and how you can practice them safely and benefit from them. We will talk about and meditate on Chakras after pranayma. Chakras are the energy centers in our body. We will talk about how they affect our energy and how you can meditate on them. This class will include sharing of information and experiential work.
