What we're about

Looking for writers of all genres seeking to join this amazing read-and-critique workshop. This is different than other Denver writers' groups. The focus is not on a homework assignment, or a class style environment. It doesn't operate by focusing on 1 or 2 writers per session. This is about YOU and your ongoing work. Everyone who wants to read and get critiqued does so each week. It's a proven format that steadily improves your personal writing.

Get feedback, write more, publish more. That's the name of our game. This is a diverse, kind-but-honest, read-and-critique workshop. The founder has many years of experience working at the Dallas-Fort Worth Writers Workshop and heading up the DFW Writers Conference. Get ready further your craft and career!

Virtual Mile High Writers' Workshop

Online event

Hi everyone, We'll be meeting virtually indefinitely until we get the go-ahead to return to in-person. In case you missed it last time. Here are directions for joining the Discord group if you haven't already: To give yourself a bit of a head start, please view this video tutorial about Discord and its functionality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9x2_Vts0yE. This will help things run smoothly tomorrow evening. As a reminder, you need to do the following steps as well: 1. Download the Discord app based on your type system, Mac or PC. Please make sure you actually download the app instead of just doing it through the internet as sharing functionality doesn't work unless you have the app on your computer. The link is: https://discord.com/new/download 2. Remember it is best to add the app on your computer, not your phone. Phones can use the app, but they are a bit harder. 3. Register yourself on the app after download. 4. Once registered, come back here and click on this link to get into the Mile High Writers' group https://discord.gg/wvZThN6. 5. Watch the Discord video link I sent above if you haven't already. 5. Once in the group, click "General" which will allow you to be in a room with all of us and chat, share, etc. Make sure your microphone is on in the app. You can see it at the bottom left of the page next to your username, it may require some testing which can be accessed on the settings wheel-also next to your name. 6. Best results for listening without feedback or echo would be to use a headset with built-in mic plugged into the computer. Having a separate mic and headphone setup has proven difficult. You may also just use your computer mic, but that can lead to feedback, so a headset with mic is the preferred choice. 7. Have a piece of writing you would like to share at the ready so we can teach you how to live feed it to the group.
