What we're about

Do you have a meditation practice? Want to start one? Curious about mindfulness and how to integrate mindfulness into your life? Looking to deepen your practice? This is a group for anyone interested in practicing or learning about mindfulness and meditation. There are so many wonderful opportunities to practice with communities in other boroughs of NYC--but not so many in Queens. Let's create mindful community right here in our own neighborhood so we can support one another and practice together. This Meetup group will be used to post local mindfulness events, meditation classes, talks, and more. No experience with meditation or mindfulness necessary. All experience levels welcome. Please note: you do NOT have to live in Astoria (or even in Queens) to attend one of our meetups.

Love & Healing for the World - Guided Meditation

Needs a location

The job of a Bodhisattva includes connecting with as many beings as possible; directly through beneficial words and deeds, and indirectly through intentions and aspirations. At this time, we can connect with the sick, the afraid, the hungry, the healthcare workers and everyone on the planet impacted by this pandemic through our wise and compassionate intentions and aspirations. Each week on Sunday and Tuesday mornings, Kim will lead us in a guided metta practice, radiating love and healing in all directions for everyone suffering and struggling during this pandemic. No experience is necessary. All you need is your good heart. If you join us for this online program, please practice generosity by offering financial support (we suggest $5-$10 per event) via Venmo to address: @meditationwithheart or Paypal to [masked]. This will enable us to continue offering programs, and to continue to give donations to Astoria First Presbyterian Church--our Wednesday night home--while their space is closed. (No one will ever be turned away due to lack of funds). Community Hangout (Online)

Online event

During this time of social distancing, let's stay connected! In lieu of our in-person community potlucks for the time being, on Sunday evenings members of our community will host a community hangout on Zoom. Each host will decide on a structure or theme such as: movie night, game night, recipe exchange, dinner and chat, etc. This week is hosted by Amy, and the theme will be: What are we reading, watching, and listening to – an evening discussing what is keeping us occupied during this time on PAUSE. Please share a brief synopsis of a book, short story, article, poem, or plot line of a favorite film, television show or podcast. Bring a beverage or a snack if you like, get comfy and sign on to Zoom at 7:30pm! Use the link or phone number below. (A computer with webcam is recommended).
