East Saint Paul Speculative Fiction Meetup-September

Details

Hello all! and welcome to the September East Saint Paul Speculative Fiction Writing Meetup! For September's topic, we will be discussing how to develop/write characters.

Writing characters is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of writing or developing any kind of story. A good set of characters can make or break the story. However, it is a most tricky task. Where do characters come from? How are they developed? What is a 'Mary Sue' Character? How does one make a character authentic and interesting? These questions and more will be discussed at the next meetup.

We are currently accepting 3 submissions for the group to critique. Submissions are first come, first served. They must be submitted by September 5th, 2017. When writing submissions, please preface it with "ESP Crit 9-12." Maximum limit for submission length is 10,000 words including a synopsis if you have one. Critiques can be submitted via email, or done on paper, or you can just give them the critiques orally only. If you do it on paper, make sure to print out the critiques before you go. That way you can write on a copy and make suggestions.
