Camping Memorial Day Weekend: Big Pine Lakes!!! Glaciers, Roaring Rivers

Things are opening up, and it is time to plan ahead to Memorial Day Weekend.

Big Pine Lakes is an amazing hidden gem. The water is a crazy hue. The Minarets rising above are stunning. If you doubt it . . . . check the Instagram hashtag #bigpinelakes

We reserve out the entire camp/campsite for our meetup, and this is our early Memorial Day Weekend event. Tons of fun to a super special part of the state.

We are making this a "flexible-stay" weekend. We have the site from Thurs to Mon. Options Below:

• Friday, Saturday and Sunday night of Memorial Day Weekend
• Thursday, Friday and Saturday night and head home Sunday (if you have work Monday).
• Thursday night all the way thru to Sunday night making it a 4 day weekend.
• Friday and Saturday night and head out Sunday.

Do what works best for you.

There are amazing places on the drive there as well as nearby as side trips. Such as the Ancient Bristlecone Forest, Mansanar, Alabama Hills, Fossil Falls or Red Rock Canyon (Cantil), as was even some mineral hot springs and even some abandoned mines.

Even with all this awesomeness you don't see trips often to Big Pine Lakes. This is because area is only open from May to October. The snow is thick even into May and in Oct the nights are below freezing. With such a small window sites are super hard to get. Especially for holiday weekends.
AND WE HAVE A PRIVATE SITE FOR Memorial Day WEEKEND!!!!!!

Our site is amazing. Tons of conveniences. There is a small rustic cafe.
Many of the sites have electrical at the site or close by. Same goes for water. Restrooms are close. Space for cars, and an overflow lots near.

Best of all . . . There is a Fish Pond!!!!! Stocked with trout. You can even catch dinner. The fish pond is free!!! For fishing you will need to buy (AND HAVE WITH YOU) a fishing license before you go.

Tons of shade from mature pines for many of the sites

We are steps away from the trail-head AND steps away from the roaring glacier fed Big Pine Creek.

This is a great beginner or first time camping. You only need the basics of camping gear. You will receive packing and equipment list recommendations. The only specialized equipment you will need is a tent. You can get one on sale at Big 5 or for even less at Goodwill.

And we also do some Zooms beforehand and talk about gear, food, easy cooking idea, activities, hikes, etc.
