N26 Formula for building microservices at scale

📍Topic description:

N26 is a mobile first bank that has recently been named the highest valued startup in Germany and one of the world’s most valuable fintechs.

Today we run 150+ Microservices across multiple regions and environments, we also deploy those microservices to production more than 500 times per week.

Microservice architecture help us to iterate solutions and evolve out product faster in an agile fashion, but we know that it comes with its own inherent challenges; the ecosystem has grown in the last years to such a point that there are multiple ways to address concerns, such as: observability; data access; responsiveness; scalability and resiliency.

In this talk I would like to share with you the N26 formula to solve the main challenges associated with a microservice architecture, our main learnings and reasonings behind each technical decision.

🗣Speaker: Folger Fonseca Velasco - Tech Lead at N26

Folger is a Software Engineer and Tech Lead who has been working at N26 for the past 3 years. His main focus is mentoring team members, building backend microservices in cross-functional teams, design systems, and engineering processes that perform at scale. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering for a non-profit organization where he teaches children how to code.
