Getting up and running with Spark – A hands-on approach – Basically I will walk them through building a Spark app most likely with Zeppelin, then transform it into a Python app in the end if there is time. We will walkthrough building the app from start to finish.

Don Jernigan is a Business Intelligence Leader and Visionary with over 20 years working with large, enterprise companies. Uses a holistic approach to help companies manage, store, report, and take action on their data. Maintains a balance between strategic leadership and managerial skills verse hard technical expertise in the latest technology. Experienced in all aspects of Data Management including big data solutions, data warehouse design and architecture, data governance, enterprise data and process analysis, data integration predictive analytics, data mining, master data management, business intelligence, and enterprise reporting solutions. Adjunct faculty at George Mason University teaching Data Warehousing and Big Data. Specializes in BI solutions using Hortonworks, Microsoft, AWS, and Tableau.Harsh Singh is a Global Black Belt TSP (Technology Solutions Professional) with Microsoft, specializing in Big Data and Advanced Analytics. As part of this role, he acts as a Subject Matter Expert resource for Data/Cloud Solution Architects, Partners and field sellers, on technologies like Azure Data Lake, HDInsight and the Hadoop stack, SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, etc. He works very closely with the Product Group at Microsoft in terms of enabling customer scenarios, workflows and blockers to determine product roadmap and strategy. During his tenure with Microsoft, he's also worked extensively on SQL Server, and has a solid background in all things SQL Engine.
