TGIF Bike Tours of Portland's Green Infrastructure is a series of NPSO tours helping folks appreciate Portland's sustainable stormwater facilities. This is the third tour.
To start this tour we'll talk about the Willamette River -- the focus of so much of Portland's sustainable stormwater efforts. Then we'll see green walls and green roofs and rainwater art and porous pavement. We'll see a variety of stormwater planters and rain gardens--and talk about the difference between the two as well as the whole Tabor to the River project. Please review this Bureau of Environmental Services brochure first: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/article/461343
We'll only be doing from the (#14) Hawthorne Hostel to the (#21) 12th & Clay Green Street, but we'll also catch some newer installations installed since the brochure was printed.
Please come with your tires fully pumped up and your bike well-tuned; dress in quick-drying layers and preferably a bright, highly visible outer layer. Wear a helmet and bring a well-equipped bike with front and rear lights, water bottle and lock.
Bring money for dinner if you would like to have an inexpensive meal together afterward. Oh, and bring a name tag.
My contact info will be in the question where I will expect you to give me yours. If you can't make it by 5:30, but want to come, please take my cell number and we'll let you know where you can catch up with us.
