Volunteer Management

Identify local associate engagement opportunities with key community partners that align with both national and regional community relations strategies.

Facilitate associate volunteer recruitment in partnership with the local Community Corps Councils (where applicable) and Community Relations Managers.

Manage volunteer recruitment for the touchdown of national community programs and enterprise-wide events (i.e. One Week, Finance Park, Heart of America READesigns).

Support volunteer programming logistics including room and catering reservations, preparing project materials, inputting volunteer project details into Volunteer Connection, confirming volunteers, responding to volunteer questions, etc.

Prepare for local financial education programming with grantee partners by compiling program curriculum and training volunteer facilitators.

Provide onsite volunteer management support where necessary to ensure high quality associate volunteer experiences and drive volunteer retention.

Promote associate engagement by tracking volunteerism and partnering with the Community Affairs Operations team regarding volunteer data reporting.

Long Island Initiative Responsibilities

(The Long Island Initiative is a community marketing program focused on community engagement and business outcomes in Nassau and Suffolk counties. This work does not require the contractor to live on Long Island.)

Partner with Corporate Events to manage Financial Literacy Challenge (FLC) events, including coordination of invitation lists, program documents, decorations, seating and event promotions; work with lines of business and grantees on invitation lists and logistics.

Support the design and implementation of the FLC Leadership Council program; includes research and coordination of professional development for nonprofit leaders and planning of grantee site visits.

Coordinate process and logistics for scoring of FLC applicants and winners.

Manage logistics for FLC grantees that want to use Capital One financial education resources, including coordination of licenses and training.

Plan volunteer projects with FLC grantees throughout the grant cycle (including during One Week).

Draft communications for Long Island Initiative, including internal market-level communications and updates, and updates for nonprofit partners.

Assist in management of nonprofit relationships.

Administrative Responsibilities

Provide basic administrative support for local Community Relations team with day-to-day activities (i.e. work orders, coordination of t-shirts and supplies, etc.).

Assist in answering departmental questions and resolving problems for internal and external stakeholders.

Serve as point of contact for internal/external communication inquiries regarding logos, signage, promotional materials and releases, with manager approval.

Upload, categorize, and manage departmental photos from volunteer events.


Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience: Experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, and project management preferred

Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required

Team oriented and collaborative

Willing to work behind the scenes; views success as a product of the team

Able to adapt quickly and remain flexible to changing requests

Comfortable balance multiple relationships and projects simultaneously
