Coffee Tasting & Urban Sketching Event: Grand Central
Grand Central, 89 E 42nd St, New York, NY, USHappy New Year fellow coffee hunters,
We've got a special treat planned for you.
Our coffee tours aim to teach you to mindfully sip and dwell in smell and taste as we explore the coffees, roasters and shops of our beloved city. Now, we are extending that mindfulness to our sense of sight.
This tour will teach you to smell, taste and understand coffee like always. In between, we will have two stops to really see by sketching under the guidance of Shawne Cooper, a longtime member of the NYC Urban Sketchers community known for leading engaging sketching workshops and events. No experience or supplies needed. Everything is included.
This magic will happen inside Grand Central so we can stay warm and inspired.
As artificial intelligence comes knocking, let's start this year off dwelling in the gift of our humanity, our very senses.
Cheers,
K. Keener

West Village Latte Tour and Optional Bakery Stop
Rhythm Zero, 328 BLEECKER ST, New York, NY, USWhat separates a great latte from a good or a bad one? That’s the question at the heart of this new Coffee Hunters event with frequent guest co-host (and Coffee Hunters attendee) Neil Andrews. It means we'll be talking about how espresso is made, how milk is steamed, and much more!
Neil is a good person to address that question – he’s visited 281 (!) and counting coffee shops in NYC, putting their lattes to the test and posting reviews on his website. Having already co-hosted many latte tours for Coffee Hunters, he’s always excited to be back for more sequels.
For this tour, we’ll be visiting three excellent cafes in the West Village: Rhythm Zero, Do Not Feed Alligators, and Oslo.
By the end of this tour, you’ll have a sense of the many variables that affect the making of a latte, where and why things tend to go off the rails, and what absolutely has to happen for a latte to receive a high score.
After the tour, there is an optional stop at L’Appartement 4F, a great bakery that "brings the essence of a Parisian bakery to Brooklyn Heights and the West Village with our hand-rolled croissants, slow-fermented sourdough breads, and artisanal pastries."
I claim that the West Village is the best Manhattan neighborhood for coffee in NYC -- let's see if it lives up to the test!
NOTE: The cost of the tour will go entirely to the lattes and barista tips. There are no refunds if you can't make it, but please cancel your RSVP so someone else can get in!10 attendees
