New Latte Tour: Harlem and Heavy Metal
Sojourner Coffee, 137 W 116th St, New York, NY, USJoin us for our latest latte tour, to take place at 3 different cafes in the Harlem area, including Sojourner Coffee, The Monkey Cup, and…wait for it…a heavy metal-inspired café called Superhet Coffee (a superhet is a type of radio receiver).
(For those who wish to stay beyond the tour, you can amp up all the caffeine in your system with pastries at Hungarian Pastry Shop, which is near our final stop. It’s also right across the street from a weird and wild sculpture garden attached to St. John the Divine that you can visit.)
We'll discuss what separates a great latte from a good or a bad one for this new Coffee Hunters event with frequent guest co-host (and Coffee Hunters attendee) Neil Andrews. We'll talk about how espresso is made, how milk is steamed, and much more.
Neil is a good person to address that question – he’s visited 300 (!) coffee shops in NYC, putting their lattes to the test and posting reviews on his website. Having already co-hosted many latte tours for Coffee Hunters, he’s always excited to be back for more sequels.
By the end of this tour, you’ll have a sense of the many variables that affect the making of a latte, where and why things tend to go off the rails, and what absolutely has to happen for a latte to receive a high score.
NOTE: The cost of the tour will go entirely to the lattes and barista tips. There are no refunds if you can't make it, but please cancel your RSVP so someone else can get in!
