Christchurch Python Meetup

68 Saint Asaph Street

NOTE: we have a new venue!

Join our monthly meetup about all things Python at Syft Technologies - 68 St Asaph Street, Christchurch.

Menno will be talking about various options for integrating Python with code written in other programming languages, either for code re-use or performance reasons. Approaches such as creating Python extensions directly in C or using helpers Cython, Numba, gopy or PyO3 (Rust) will be covered.

Doors open at 5:30pm, with the talk starting at 6pm. Please enter from the St Asaph Street side. The main entrance will be closed at this time so instead please come down to the door 20m east / left of the main entrance where you'll be let in. If you're a bit late, we're in the meeting room directly to the left of the main entrance so you may be able to get our attention by waving through the window.

The following COVID related restrictions apply:
- Attendees must sign in using the COVID app or paper register on arrival
- Attendees must be fully vaccinated and bring their vaccine passes which will be validated on arrival
- Please maintain 1m social distance between attendees
- Stay home if you have any cold or flu symptoms, or are feeling unwell in any way

Do not hesitate to pass this information around to whomever you think may be interested to hear and discuss all things Python.

PS: NZPUG's Code of Conduct applies for our local meetups and the online meetup.com group. Please read it up in case you haven't yet https://python.nz/code-of-conduct

We use a Discourse forum at https://python.chch.tech/ for communication and discussion about anything related to Python or the Christchurch Python meetup. You can also post comments here on Meetup.

This month we'll be attempting to solve some of the initial problems from this year's Advent of Code challenges (https://adventofcode.com/2021). It'll be a lighthearted way to round out the year (thanks Brian for the suggestion!).

Depending on how many people we have and what people feel like doing we'll either work through the problems together, or break into smaller groups. Please bring a laptop if you can.
