What we're about

Meet like-minded people interested in meditation near you! Learn how to meditate or deepen your current meditation practice. A trademark of the meditations we emphasize is the ease in which they can be used both "on the cushion" and in our daily lives. Each meeting will include practical meditation, and a talk on how to reduce stress and other problems encountered in daily life and how to increase mental and physical well-being. There will also be plenty of time to discuss the ideas presented. Although the meditations and talks are based on Kadampa Buddhist philosophy, you don't need to be a Buddhist to enjoy this group. Kadampa Buddhism stresses a spiritual path of individual transformation and to look within ourselves for the inner peace and happiness we seek. Everyone is welcome!

Sunday Morning Meditation ~ “Finding Happiness”
We tend to look for happiness outside ourselves, thinking that if we arrange everything perfectly, we would be truly happy. Although we could change our home, our job or our partner countless times, unless we change our restless, discontented mind, we will never find real happiness. It is time we look for happiness from a different source. Happiness is part of the mind, so the real source of happiness must lie within us.

Join us Sunday mornings and learn how to find happiness within your own peaceful mind through the practice of meditation. Each class includes 2 guided meditations and a talk. Everyone is welcome! No prior experience is needed nor do you need to be a Buddhist to enjoy and benefit from these meditation classes.

This series is based on teachings from the book:
The New Eight Steps To Happiness by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Copies are available to purchase in the Center Bookstore or on-line at https://tharpa.com/us/the-new-eight-steps-to-happiness-us.html

The Meditation Teacher

Gen Kelsang Namdrol is a modern Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher of Samudrabadra Kadampa Buddhist Center. She has been studying, practicing, and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for many years
under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. Gen Namdrol’s heartfelt and practical teachings are presented with warmth, clarity, and humor making them accessible to everyone.
